“It can not be overstated the importance of an experienced and knowledgeable teacher when learning and trying to navigate the practice of Ashtanga yoga. I have been fortunate to be able to work with Angelique Sandas, who possess both of these qualities. Her guidance over the past several years has helped me progress and refine my practice beyond what I thought possible for me. We are so lucky to have a teacher of such high caliber ...”

“Words cannot describe the countless ways in which Angelique has affected my life. She is well-versed in all facets of yoga. She excels in teaching asana in a gentle and effective manner. She encourages practitioners to attempt new poses in a nurturing manner, never forced. Her patience is limitless and her enthusiasm boundless.
Her wealth of knowledge extends beyond the body, outside of anatomy, and past the edges of the mat. I can approach her with questions and concerns without fear of judgment. She has made countless observations that prove her mastery of things I never knew were at play in our lives. She has taught me to channel my chakras, kick in my koshas, power up my pranayama, bond with my bandha, and even to peek at my past lives.
I never imagined I would start my mornings chanting Sanskrit and trying to put my legs behind my head. Now, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Angelique has been instrumental in helping me remain dedicated to my practice. Saying she is an excellent instructor is an understatement. She motivates her students to practice daily. She shares helpful quotes, stories, insights, and anecdotes, enticing us to roll out the mat day in and day out.”

The movement space at Aeaea homes Ashtanga Vinyasa based yoga asana classes, yoga-related studies, and other movement explorations.
We offer an accessible Community Flow class for students of all capabilities and levels of experience. This class offers an opportunity to slow down, connect to breath, and move energy through the body.
Our Vinyasa Flow classes are suitable for all levels, though the absolute beginner may find them challenging. Vinyasa refers to the synchronizing of movement to breath. Breath is the first layer, setting the pace and dynamic of your yoga practice. The body’s movement is layered over the breath, the postures linked by transitional movement sequences. This class balances dynamic flow that draws you into present moment experience with detailed instruction that provides safe benefit to the body.
Ashtanga is a vinyasa method that has a set sequence of postures. In Ashtanga, you do the same postures in the same order ever time and the sequence is progressive in that each posture is built on the information received from previous ones. There are six series of postures, each one more challenging than the last.
Primary Series, also known as Yoga Chikitsa or yoga therapy, is intended to rehabilitate the body. The postures address the main areas of the body: spinal column, hips, knees, shoulders, as well as the internal organs. The intention is to assist in healing old injuries, correcting chronic patterns, and bringing the body to its most optimal neutral state. Full primary series is considered to be an advanced-level practice.
Mysore is the traditional self-practice approach to the Ashtanga technique. Asana classes focus on the individualized self-practice method of study, providing the opportunity for students to work at their own pace on the aspects that are most significant to their journey. In a Mysore class, each student moves independently, according to the timing of their own breath, through the sequence of postures as they have learned them from their teacher. The teacher moves through the room, giving assistance, instruction, and guidance as needed on a one-on-one basis. This method requires a commitment of time and effort. Frequent and consistent practice results in deeper understanding and greater connection to the work of yoga. This individualized approach allows for the practitioner to delve into their yoga as best suits them and establishes a deeply personal connection to self. Within this self-practice setting, is the opportunity to develop a program tailored specifically to your needs. Yoga is a personal experience.
You can also begin with a private lesson to create a program just for you!
The movement space will also provide opportunities for workshops, directed in-depth studies, continued education for movement teachers, and private, personalized treatments and lessons.
